Over 150 households receive EGHA assistance to live in privately owned rental housing.  These units are scattered throughout the Town.  The EGHA works closely with both tenants and property owners to ensure the continued success of this housing program.

Housing Choice Program

The Housing Choice Program offers you a package of free benefits wrapped around Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers. Vouchers are administered by housing authorities in every Rhode Island community. The program guarantees you a good portion of the rent every month. Payment to landlords are 70%, 80%, even 90% of the rent every month. Tenents pay the remainder.
