FAMILY SELF SUFFICIENCY is a program offered by the East Greenwich Housing Authority to support the families we house in reaching their goals for a future free of public assistance.

"TAKE THAT FIRST STEP FORWARD AND NEVER LOOK BACK".

The first step is always the hardest... but once you take the risk and DO IT, you'll find out how much you can accomplish.

You goals are more than dreams; they can
be reality with belief, courage and action.

The goals of FAMILY SELF SUFFICIENCY is to enable families in reaching their educational, career and life skill goals.

* From jobs to

* From tenants to homeowners

* From dependence to independence

ESCROW ACCOUNT- An escrow savings account is established for each family when the family's earned income increases. The Housing Authority places money in the interest bearing escrow account for the FSS family!

INDEPENDENCE- This is the most important reward. Hard work and motivation will help you reach this goal.

SELF CONFIDENCE- Learning that you have the strength to overcome any hurdle, and having faith in yourself is a great accomplishment.

By taking the first step you will obtain these rewards!

Homeownership Program

This program was developed to assist families in achieving the dream of owning their own home, while still receiving subsidized assistance. This program permits the monthly Hpusing Assistance Payment (HAP) to be dispersed towards the cost of the mortgage and other homeownership costs. Preference is given to those actively participating in the FSS program.

The Homeownership Program allows the family the ability to become Self-Sufficient and maintain a home of their own.
